First week of K

So this is my 6th year of teaching and I just finished my first week with my kindergarteners. Yesterday was the first day with all 21 little kiddos. It was a great day. We sang songs, danced, practiced sitting correctly on the rug, lining up and walking in a line. We read books like The First Day Jitters, The Kissing Hand, David Goes to School and No, David! We made handprints for their parents and practice using our scissors and glue sponges the correct way. I taught them about coloring and how to do our best, and gave them time to practice and they did so good for their first try! I had one little guy have 2 meltdowns on his first day, but yesterday he did great. A few kids had a tough time separating form their parents, but after a few minutes, they were fine. I have two ELL students this year, but I'm looking forward to it! After grad school I'm excited to work with diverse families and children. So I feel it was all in God's timing to put them in my class this year. =)

I have a great team who enjoys sharing ideas and materials. We are each others support system at work and I love that! I love our new administrators and hope that this will be the best year yet of teaching!

Gonna get off here and read the 2nd book of the Divergent series. Loved the first one!

Until next time,
Jess
